So, does anyone know of any REPUTABLE recovery software that can get the images back? If not, are there reputable companies that I could send the CF cards to and have them recover the images? That is, I re-inserted them into the camera and took a picture using the formatted cards. Then, to make matters worse, both had one new image written to each card. Both were accidently formatted when I mixed them up with other CF cards. I have two 4gb CF cards, a SanDisk Extreme IV and a SanDisk Ducati. It pains me to write this, but I may have accidently deleted the most important images that i have EVER taken. One other thing you can do if you are in the market soon for another CF card is buy one after making sure it DOES come with image retrieval software.
